Genesis Microchip and EnTech Taiwan Enter Strategic Agreement to Promote Revolutionary Low-cost Solution for LCD Monitors

Genesis Now Offering On-screen Management Software for Next-Generation LCD Monitor Controller Products

SAN JOSE, Calif. and TAIPEI, Taiwan—June 5, 2006—Genesis Microchip Inc. (Nasdaq: GNSS), a world leader in the development of image processing technologies for flat-panel TVs, monitors and other consumer display products, today announced it has entered into a strategic agreement with EnTech Taiwan, a leading developer of software applications for the display market, in which Genesis will bundle EnTech’s softOSM™ (OnScreen Manager™) software with its next-generation Phoenix LCD monitor controllers.

EnTech’s softOSM is an efficient, host-based OSD-replacement application that enables displays to be self-configured, auto-rotated and tuned quickly and precisely. Genesis Microchip’s inclusion of this software in its LCD Monitor controller solutions helps reduce display manufacturers’ overall bill-of-material costs while simultaneously offering a competitive differentiator that allows them to bring competitively distinct, feature-rich displays to market more quickly.

“By integrating softOSM into our solutions, Genesis offers customers features such as display rotation and display management while at the same time significantly reducing costs associated with the on-screen display and keypad in the monitor,” said Andre Bouwer, director of product marketing, Genesis Microchip. “EnTech’s softOSM is perfectly suited for this purpose and we selected the application for its unmatched compatibility and performance characteristics.”

“We are delighted to partner with Genesis Microchip, the market leader in display image processors, to bring feature-enhanced, cost-reduced displays to market,” said Ashley Saldanha, general manager of EnTech Taiwan. “We believe this combination will offer a unique, comprehensive solution enabling the mainstream display market to deliver LCD monitors that are truly intelligent peripherals rather than passive display devices.”

Features of softOSM include:

    • A complete Windows-based OSD on the PC
    • Windows desktop rotation and auto-rotation for pivoting monitors
    • Comprehensive display management–including enhanced asset management and centralized monitor control
    • TheftAlert™–which alerts IT management in real time whenever a monitor is disconnected from the corporate network
    • A feature-rich API that enables display OEMs to easily carry forward their current user interface, or design whole new classes of display applications
